Adult Beginners

Age Guide: Approximately 18 months +

These classes are ideal for adult dogs with little or no prior training, including rescue dogs or those who have missed out on puppy or adolescent classes. No previous experience is required – these sessions are perfectly suited to complete beginners.

To ensure a calm, focused learning environment, class sizes are kept small, with a maximum of 4 dogs per session (occasionally five, depending on suitability). This helps reduce noise and distractions, allowing both dogs and owners to get the most out of their time in class.

Over the course of 9 weeks, we progress from foundational skills to more advanced training, always working at the pace of the individual dogs attending.  While the content may vary slightly depending on the group, the course typically includes:

  • Focus and eye contact
  • Loose lead walking
  • Nose-to-hand targeting
  • Recall
  • Sit, down, stand and stay
  • Settle
  • Cooperative handling and care
  • Drop, leave, and swap
  • Calm meet and greet behaviour
  • Food manners
  • Emergency stop
  • Muzzle training
  • “Middle” (a safe position between your legs)
  • Troubleshooting common challenges
  • …and more!

There’s also time built in to address individual struggles or goals, ensuring personalised support throughout the course.

If you’re looking for a positive, supportive environment to help your dog build real-life training skills and confidence, these classes offer the perfect starting point.
