The North Norfolk Dog Training centre is nestled in over 350 acres of orchards, farmland, and wild meadows.
Our training centre is a secure, fully enclosed outdoor space created for dogs. A spacious polytunnel with artificial grass provides a covered, all-weather training area, allowing sessions to continue year-round, rain or shine.
We’re also conveniently located next to a charming rural market brimming with artisan food, shops, and galleries. And the closest beach is only a stones throw away.
Welcome to the North Norfolk Dog Training Centre
Training outdoors offers real-world experiences that can’t be easily replicated indoors. It’s especially valuable for young puppies and inexperienced dogs, giving them gentle, structured exposure to the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of the outside world. By learning through all five senses; smell, hearing, touch, sight, and taste. Dogs gain confidence and resilience as they explore and understand their environment.
Kind, Modern Dog Training
At North Norfolk Dog Training Centre, we use kind, science-based, reward-focused methods, never force, fear, or punishment. Modern behavioural science shows that positive reinforcement is the most effective, ethical, and sustainable way to train dogs. Put simply, we reward the behaviours we want to see more of, rather than punishing the ones we don’t. When dogs make good choices, we reinforce them so they’re more likely to repeat them in the future. This creates learning that is clear, safe, and enjoyable for every dog who trains with us.

Smell
Dogs have around 300 million scent receptors, compared to just 5–6 million in humans. This gives them an extraordinary ability to detect smells at concentrations we can barely imagine, tens of thousands of times more sensitive than ours.

Hearing
A dog’s ears are not only expressive, they’re packed with special glands that produce pheromones. That’s one reason dogs often sniff each other’s ears when they meet.

Touch
Touch is the first sense a puppy develops. Dogs experience the world through touch-sensitive nerve endings across their entire body, including their whiskers (vibrissae), which help them detect changes in air movement, nearby objects, or even a fly landing on their back.

Vision
Dogs see particularly well at dawn and dusk, and their night vision surpasses ours. While they don’t see in full colour (only in shades of blue, yellow, and grey), they’re incredibly attuned to movement, which helps them navigate their world.

Taste
Surprisingly, dogs don’t have a strong sense of taste - they have far fewer taste buds than humans. Instead, they use a special organ in the roof of their mouth to “taste” the scent of food in the air before gobbling it up. The Jacobson's organ, also known as the Vomeronasal organ (VNO), is a special sensory organ.

Group Class Training
Puppy & Dog Training
Our group classes are thoughtfully structured around your dog’s age and life stage, rather than breed or size. This approach recognises that dogs at similar developmental stages share comparable physical and mental needs, making learning smoother and more effective for everyone. By progressing through classes at a steady, manageable pace, you and your dog will build skills and confidence together, setting you both up for long-term success.

Meet Martina
My passion for dogs has been a constant throughout my life, but it was a rescue Newfoundland named Blakey who truly changed everything. He arrived at 17 months old, full of personality but lacking in training and social skills – a lovable 70+kg challenge. Working through his behavioural struggles sparked something in me; a deep desire to understand how dogs learn and to help others build better relationships with their own dogs.
We attended training with Martina with our cocker spaniel puppy and loved every second of it! As first time dog owners, we wanted to make sure we gave our puppy a great start and that’s exactly what we feel North Norfolk Dog Training was able to give us. Martina is so supportive, kind and knowledgeable and made every session interesting and full of things to learn. She’s on hand if you have any worries or are struggling with particular parts of training and has a lovely way with all the dogs she comes across. Her fab level of support is available after the session, as she prepares take away documents to support you to continue training outside of the session, which we found super helpful as it enabled us to try out the training in different environments. If you have a dog and want to work with a fantastic trainer, I’d completely recommend Martina!

A really good dog training course. We had 6 sessions and our little dog, Rosie, really enjoyed them. So did we! They were very informative, active and great fun. We learnt alot and Martina certainly is the best dog trainer we've come across. The venue was very good as well. We're hoping for group lessons next! Very many thanks Martina.

We are so pleased that we reached out to Martina just under a year ago ahead of our new puppy’s arrival. We instantly knew that we were in a safe pair of hands. Martina paid so much pre-class attention to our puppy’s wellbeing as well as fully appreciating our expectations and aspirations as new puppy owners. The training classes are really well structured, the information is simple and clear with the process really easy to grasp. The training classes are also lots of fun. Martina’s depth of knowledge, her absolute passion for helping owners train and care for their dogs and, equally, her ongoing care and guidance on all aspects of dog ownership has been invaluable. We can’t recommend her enough.
