Terms and Conditions

These T&Cs are for the interest of safety, responsibility and welfare for our clients. We reserve the right to change these terms and conditions at any time. Any changes will take immediate effect and it is the responsibility of our clients to read these.

In order to follow government advice we are implementing the following guidelines until further notice:
Two meters distance must be maintained at all times where possible when on the premises.
Puppies or dogs must also be kept 2 meters apart from each other (no meets and greets are permitted).
Maximum of 5 puppies and 5 handlers in each class.
Only one handler per dog in each class and no children under the age of 18 will be able to attend group classes.
No spectators or additional handlers without prior permission.
If you have a cough, cold or have any of the symptoms of COVID-19 or, have been with anyone who has the virus or any symptoms or, have travelled abroad to one of the countries that the Government require individuals to self-isolate for 2 weeks on return to the UK, you will not be able to attend classes for the two weeks whilst you are self-isolating. This will be treated as any other absence from class and you will not be able to carry any classes over to other courses.
Anyone refusing to follow the guidelines will be asked to leave the class and no refund will be issued.  We appreciate your cooperation in order that we can attempt to keep everyone safe and continue operating in these challenging times.

Payment is required in full before attendance to a class. To ensure you are guaranteed a place on a course, it is advisable to pay by BACS (bank transfer) or book online.
You must be 18 years of age or older and competent to contract in your own name.  It is essential that you fully understand the meaning and impact of these terms and conditions. You must read this document before completing a booking form and settling any payment.  By completing a booking form and making payment you acknowledge that you have read, understood and accept these terms and conditions.

Confirmation of your booking will be forwarded by email. It is your responsibility to ensure you arrive at the right venue and at the correct time.

We cannot guarantee a place on a course unless prior payment has been made via BACS (bank transfer) or cash. We are no longer able to take cheques as payment. If you request a place on a course without paying by return of a booking form, there is no assurance a space will be available on commencement of the course. We will endeavour to contact you when places are limited.

What to wear:
Training is done outside, therefore appropriate outdoor attire is recommended.  Please bear in mind that the training centre is located on a working farm and so areas on-site could potentially become muddy on days when it is or has been raining. Our training involves practical handling therefore please wear comfortable flat, enclosed footwear for safety reasons (no flip-flops), as you will be moving about. You may also be required during training to get down on the ground.

Welfare and safety:
Please keep to areas designated only for our training purposes. All dogs must be kept under the owner’s control and on a lead, except when specifically instructed by our instructors. You are responsible for the conduct of your dog at all times. Dogs in class must not lunge or bark at other dogs present.

We provide a safe and secure environment as practicably reasonable and endeavour to apply good practices with all our training services. We endeavour to run all classes in as safe and professional manner as possible. North Norfolk Dog Training also takes all reasonable precautions when providing behavioural services to minimise the risk of injury from being bitten. However, dog training is not without risk therefore participation in training and behaviour services is at the owner’s risk. North Norfolk Dog Training or any of its individual assistants, or helpers, will not accept responsibility for any loss, injury or damage to any persons, or dogs attending a course, or to their property during the provision of dog training activities.

Will not take responsibility for misinterpretation of advice. Whilst we hope you find the information and guidance given interesting and informative, the contents are for general information only. We believe the contents to be true and accurate as at the date of the session but can give no assurances or warranty regarding the accuracy, currency or applicability of any of the contents in relation to specific situations and particular circumstances. As such, the contents should not be relied upon and professional advice should be taken in specific cases. In addition, none of the content of the session will form any part of any contract between us or constitutes an offer by us. Specific disclaimers may apply in addition to certain content or parts of the session.

Animal aggression can cause injury, including fatal injury, to other animals and people. Treatment for aggression is not a guarantee of success and modifying behaviour does not assure that the aggression will be successfully controlled. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that their pet does not harm in the future. Precautions may involve, but are not limited to, keeping a dog on lead, the use of muzzle, informing others of the dog’s aggressive tendencies, not mixing with certain types of people or other dogs, or confinement behind fencing and doors. Owners remain responsible for their dogs at all times and are advised they have adequate pet or household insurance cover for liability in the unlikely event of damage or injury caused by their dog to property or to a third party.

Owners are advised to have appropriate pet insurance cover that includes third party liability insurance, with or without vet cover. North Norfolk Dog Training has public liability and relevant business insurance to run classes and provide behavioural counselling, providing adequate cover for our business liabilities.

Should the training centre need be closed at short notice due to any unforeseen circumstances i.e. COVID-19 restrictions, environmental hazards, extreme weather conditions etc, you will be notified by email as soon as possible. In such instances, we will move classes to an online format or defer the course to a later date.

Insufficient numbers booked onto a course may result in the course being postponed or cancelled. In this instance you will be notified of future course dates or offered private tuition. If this is not acceptable a full refund will be given.

In the event that WE need to cancel the course due to unforeseen circumstances, a full refund will be made to all clients within 14 days of the cancellation date.

Notification of cancellation will be made to all clients by email, text or phone call. Refunds can and will only be made by the same method the original payment was received.  Should this occur on the actual date of the course we will attempt to make contact by telephone wherever possible.

North Norfolk Dog Training will not be liable for any losses or expenses arising from amendments to the course or cancellations.

Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 you may cancel your purchase within a period of 7 working days beginning on the day after we send your booking confirmation. However, there is no right of cancellation where the course begins within this seven day period.

Group Classes:
A deposit payment is required to secure a place in class, this is a non refundable deposit.  The final balance payment is required on or before 14 days prior to the first class.
Once services have been paid for they are non-transferable and non-refundable.
If for any reason you no longer wish to continue training with us; you will not be entitled to a refund.
We limit the number of dogs in our classes to provide the appropriate trainer to dog ratio.

You must not knowingly book a dog that shows aggression or nervousness onto a training course, unless it is a specific course that is intended to address these issues. We reserve the right to excuse dogs that are aggressive in class. If you do not advise us of potential problems and your dog shows aggression in class you will not be entitled to a refund. Contact us if you are not sure whether a class is suitable for your dog. If you are unsure about the suitability of your dog in class and have not asked us to assess your dog before your attendance, you will not be refunded if your dog is unsuitable for the class you have booked. If we have agreed to your dog attending but the dog is not suited to the class environment, we will offer you alternative arrangements, such as working with you on a one-to-one basis.

We are unable to refund course fees once the course has commenced and partial refunds for missed classes are not given. Please notify us beforehand if you will miss a class. Unfortunately we are unable to provide make up sessions however we will endeavour to ensure you are able to catch up at your next attendance.

Children in class:
We encourage family members to attend classes. Children are welcome and when encouraged to participate often make competent handlers. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Children are encouraged to behave appropriately in the presence of unfamiliar dogs and are requested not to run in class, or distract other dogs from working. For safety reasons it is advisable all children are educated in how to approach an unfamiliar dog. We do provide instruction in how to interact with an unfamiliar dog.

Young children may not find training classes exciting. It can be challenging to supervise young children while training a dog. Very young children can become bored and may need another adult to supervise them. If you provide your children with entertainment during a class, please ensure it is quiet and will not distract the class.

I understand if I have brought children along for the session, I am solely responsible for them.

When arriving at class please avoid meeting the other dogs on lead. Not all dogs like to be near other dogs when restrained on lead and may react as a consequence. Do not crowd the entrance to the training centre and allow plenty of room for a dog and handler to enter and exit. On arrival enter the training centre when requested and take a seat. Do not allow dogs to play together outside the venue before a class, as this can cause excitement and a lack of attention during the session.

A toilet break before each class will ensure your puppy is empty and comfortable. Please be a responsible dog owner and always clean up after your dog. Take all dog waste home with you and do not leave used poo bags on the premises or outside in the car park. We do not have the facilities to dispose of dog waste at the training centre.

For livelier, excitable dogs it can be beneficial to exercise your dog before class with a game or a short walk. Do not over-exercise your dog before a class otherwise they will be too weary.

Please consider others in class and switch off your mobile phone. We ask that you do not hold conversations on your phone during a class. Photography or video recording is not permitted in class. We may occasionally record for promotional purposes, however please alert us if you do not wish to appear.

Start times:
Please arrive in time for each class as latecomers can be disruptive to the other dogs in class. Dogs arriving late can experience stress if barked at by the other dogs. If you are late and we are working dogs off lead, please wait for the instructor to invite you in at a convenient moment before entering.

North Norfolk Dog Training reserves the right to change the content, timing, dates, venue or instructor. We try to avoid this as much as possible, but sometimes this is unavoidable, particularly with changes in the weather meaning we have to postpone a session. If we know in advance that the weather will not be suitable, we will let you know.  However, often the weather can be very changeable from hour to hour. If a booking is cancelled due to the weather, we will let everyone know who is due to attend a class by text or phone call as soon as we can, but at least an hour before the start of your class.

Owner Responsibilities:
You are responsible for the conduct of your own dog at all times. Please be aware of other dogs and do not allow your dog to approach prior to asking the dog’s owner; some dogs may be uncomfortable around other dogs or people and require a little extra space.

Please ensure your dog is wearing a flat collar.  You may also use a harness; this is our preference as training long lines may be used and this should never be attached to a normal collar.

Under the ‘Control of Dogs Order’ (1992) all dogs must be wearing a suitable collar with the owner’s name and address inscribed either on a plate on the collar or on a tag attached to the collar. This is to be worn at all times in public places.

Items not permitted:

Choke chains, check or half check collars, prong/pinch collars, electronic collars, citronella spray collars, ultrasonic collars, slip leads, anti-pull harness, compressed air canisters, rattle cans or water squirters, or any device which emits a noise intended for punishment or interruption in an abrupt manner. Any other device used to punish, cause fear or intimidation.

North Norfolk Dog Training, without hesitation, will report any dog/pet that is being mistreated, neglected or abused immediately to the appropriate authorities which can take necessary action.

North Norfolk Dog Training only uses reward based methods in our training and we DO NOT allow punishment for any unwanted behaviour within our training sessions and discourage this at all other times.  We will help and advise you on the best ways to prevent these unwanted behaviours. Punishment includes shouting, using a raised voice, hitting and lead yanking to get their attention.

Any owner who continues to use harsh methods when asked not to, will be asked to leave our classes and not return.  Failure to comply with this section of the terms and conditions may result in cessation of services without refund.

Your Dogs Behaviour:

If your dog brings harm to another person/dog or damages property, the owner is liable for the offence made.

DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON A LEAD AT ALL TIMES whilst at Drove Orchards Farm and retail site, unless instructed otherwise by a North Norfolk Dog Training instructor.  This includes on the grass areas, car park, apple orchards, sides of the field and the training centre.

If your dog is unwell:

If your dog has been ill in the 24 hours preceding the class then please keep them away for that training session.

Welfare and safety of all dogs is paramount to us. Dogs in an unfit state of health due to illness, disease or injury cannot be brought to class. Do not bring your dog to class if they have been in contact with an infectious disease, such as kennel cough or conjunctivitis.

If you are unsure as to whether your dog is well enough to attend, please refer to your Vet. If your dog is unable to attend you are encouraged to attend the class without your dog so you can maintain continuity of training.

Bitches in season:

Please do not attend training with your bitch if she is in season. If your bitch comes into season during a training course that you are booked onto you will be offered a place on the next available course at no extra charge from the point where you stopped your course.  However, you are encouraged to attend and complete the course of classes without your dog.

All puppies and dogs attending classes must be fully vaccinated and proof of vaccination must be shown at your first class or emailed prior to the first class. Should you choose not to vaccinate, a letter stating your dog’s blood titre levels must be presented on headed paper and signed by your veterinary surgeon. If you choose these routes, North Norfolk Dog Training will not be held responsible for any illness your dog may contract whilst training at the North Norfolk Dog Training centre.

Client Behaviour:
Family members are always welcome to attend Group Classes and Private 121 training. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and be able to sit through the session without becoming bored.
Please treat all other owners, trainers and training assistants with kindness and respect.
Aggressive or inappropriate behaviour from the owner or third party associated with the owner may result in a cancellation of service without notice or refund.

North Norfolk Dog Training takes no responsibility for damage/loss to cars parked on the Drove Orchards Farm site.  Guidance will be given on arrival on where to park. Please park considerately as space is limited during peak periods.
